With the weather calming and the rivers much more cooperative I decided to take a short trip up river from the farm. I loaded my 12 foot aluminum canoe and started paddling till I found a great location about 1.5 miles into the Rice City Pond area. There is an abundant fishery here, most with an average of 8-12 pounds with some reaching into the 30's..though admittedly those are of course very rare. High teens and low 20's can be found around with a bit of luck and time spent. This stretch of river is one of my favorite areas to fish with little to no pressure from other anglers. I managed a good number of fish, though for time constraints I didn't include film of the 3-5 pound carp.
